Hello! My name is Allison, and I am a Minnesota girl who found herself inexplicably drawn to Indian culture growing up. This led me to meet my amazing friends/Bollywood group and later, my husband! We got married in India in 2015, then again in Minnesota later that year. I am now learning to balance relationships with my international family, navigate cultural differences, and figure out how to seamlessly incorporate some Indian flair into various aspects of my life. This blog will focus on my everyday life as it becomes progressively more Indian-inspired, mostly with regard to my closet, home, and recipe box – but really anything is game!
Vermillion Rhapsody came about in part as a play on my last name – Verma – and in part because of the color. Vermillion is a dark but vibrant red, known in many parts of India as a prominent bridal color; I wear a vermillion bindi on my forehead and sindoor in my hair every day since our wedding. I find that what vermillion or red symbolizes – passion, adventure, intensity – is everything that my life has become since I found my husband (and India).
A rhapsody is both an enthusiastic expression and a long, epic poem. This blog is essentially my rhapsody – my excited, often long-winded tale about this crazy life of mine!
