I’m working on creating a minimalist Indo-Western wardrobe, and I’m inviting you to join me on the ride!
I don’t believe in continually buying trendy new clothes, and I don’t believe you need a massive wardrobe to be stylish.
I’m drawing from the concept of Nina Garcia’s book The One Hundred, which lays out Garcia’s top 100 staple pieces for a minimal-yet-complete wardrobe. However, I’m taking it one step further and creating a wardrobe that incorporates both Indian and Western components. The 100 pieces I describe aren’t the only pieces in my wardrobe. However, they are by far my most-used and most versatile, and if I was forced to narrow down my wardrobe to 100 pieces, these are the ones I would choose.
In the book, Garcia mentions that the pieces she describes are the best pieces for her based on her style and her life, and I would like to do the same here. The pieces that I have chosen work best for me based on the colors I wear and the silhouettes and styles I like best. I’m not saying that these are the 100 definitive pieces for an Indo-Western wardrobe. Instead, I’d like to reference Captain Barbossa and refer to this as “more what you’d call guidelines than actual rules”.
I’ll be splitting this journey into multiple posts, so I am creating a master list here and linking all relevant posts.
Have fun exploring, and hopefully you find some inspiration!

My One Hundred
These are the 100 pieces that I personally think create the perfect minimal-yet-versatile wardrobe that combines both Indian and Western elements. This is the wardrobe that works best for me based on my favorite colors, styles, silhouettes, and so on. Your “One Hundred” will likely be quite different from mine, with some overlap I’m sure. I challenge you to create your own minimalist and/or Indo-Western wardrobe, and if you do, please share them with me! Items will be added as they are posted.
