How do two years fly by so quickly?! I feel like just yesterday I was scrambling to put the finishing touches on our American wedding preparations! Yet here we are two years later, living in a new state, achieving dreams, and having so much fun along the way!
I look back on my American wedding and everything that led up to it, and it makes me smile to think about what we accomplished and the amazing day we created!
After our Indian wedding, we planned our American celebration with limited resources and on a very crunched timeline, which translated to limited venue options, limited dates, and limited vendors. We did our best to make it as close to our “ideal” as possible, even with a small budget and next-to-no time.
We tried to infuse Indian and Western elements wherever possible, so the guys wore suits with turbans while the bridesmaids wore one-shoulder dresses to mimic the shape of a saree. I wore a lehenga – that I won(!!!) and will post about at a later date – that featured an Indian silhouette with more Western bridal colors. We created a small ceremony which included traditions from both of our cultures: vows, garland ceremony, and exchanging of rings.
Oh, and there was lots of dancing 🙂
Up until this point, I haven’t shared pictures from our American wedding because they didn’t turn out quite like I hoped they would. But it’s two years down the road and there are bigger things in life to worry about, so I figured I would finally share them with you all! Also I sort of know how to edit pictures now, so I went through and re-edited them myself to make them more presentable! I hope you enjoy them!
Happy 2nd American anniversary to my man, Mr. Vik! Thank you for the past two years and more, thank you for always supporting me in my crazy dreams, and thank you for taking such good care of my heart.
I hope you enjoyed looking at our wedding pictures! I had a lot of fun going through them again.
Until next week! 🙂
